STEAM Version

This version of the game is an early prototype from the gamejam. I you wanna check how it looks now - try it out on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738990/Node_Farm/

What?

The Node Farm is a node-based cozy strategy game where you have to build your pumpkin farm with nodes.

Why?

This is my submission for Cozy Fall Jam 2023 (Theme: 'Less is more')

How to play?

You need only a mouse to play. Just go along with the tutorial and if you are stuck - reset the game in the main menu. Your goal is  to harvest enough Veggies. It's a cozy game so don't stress - just have a pure farming fun :D

I will put controls here just in case:

  • LMB (Left Mouse Button)
    • Drag from node to node to connect.
    • Drag nodes from the shop to the board.
    • Hold a node for ~3s to grab it.
  • RMB (Right Mouse Button)
    • Drag to move the camera.
  • MMB (Middle Mouse Button)
    • Drag to delete nodes and connections (removal rectangle).
  • Mouse Scroll - zoom.
  • Hover over node - shows the node description.

Best game ever to be found and told by discord mates! Thanks for coming out with some fun content! I will be buying this fun game on steam!

Haha, thank you! It will be much better in the Steam version!

The new version is live now:

  • saves implemented,
  • shop won't hide if zoomed in,
  • resources transport is much smarter,
  • deleted resources increase veggies by deleted value,
  • ROAD added,
  • more veggies at the beginning (the early game was a little too slow),
  • controls fixed - now it works on all platforms,
  • a lot of bug fixes and QoL improvements.

Let me know what you think! Your feedback will be helpful!

This was quite fun. After a while, though, I just let the simulation run. Good job though.

Can you add a simple setting to switch mmb to rmb? Us on the inferior apple products cant enjoy it.

Yep, waiting for the gamejam to end, so I can implement controls in a more Apple and Mobile friendly manner.

thank you, i was able to get it to work with an external and love it.

Nice! Thanks for your time!

Middle mouse button is doing nothing in the tutorial... :(

It should work to delete connections (and after the tutorial delete nodes). Do you see an orange rectangle when you drag a mouse holding MMB? I'm not sure if it is some other issue.

Update - fixed controls, saves added + a lot of quality of life improvements implemented :)

Would be great if you had another option for zooming. Everytime I try to scroll out, I scroll down on the whole page as well.

True, it works fine only when playing in the fullscreen mode.

My macbook air laptop doesn't have a middle mouse button?

To be fixed after the gamejam.

Fixed!

Thank you! This is what I have so far

It's growing

I loved it until I miss clicked and deleted my only farm without having enough to purchase another one :(

I am sorry to hear that! I don't know how far you were, but I put a reset button in the main menu just in case a player accidentally locks his economy in such a way :)

Oh ok ^^ thanks for the answer, i'll give it another try !

Awesome!! I love it

Thanks! Nice to hear that :)

Okay, that's awesome. Love it
The music is a bit repetitive, and you could have given some veggies / additional pumpkins after the tutorial to speed up the beginning

Apart from that, very nice, I'd like to see more of it !

Thank you! Hm, this initial boost would be nice. It is a little too slow at the beginning. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Broken. Always says "Can't delete nodes right now" when I am supposed to delete nodes. Also, using the middle mouse button for interaction is just bad for those using trackpads.

Hey! In the tutorial, you are supposed to delete the connection, not a node. Node deletion is blocked at the beginning so you don't accidentally remove everything until you gain access to the shop. It is enabled at the end of the tutorial.

Either way, it does not work.

My new update should fix this issue :) Feel free to check it out!
